BlueBomber wrote:I picked up a 12 month sub for $35. If you want Destiny just for solo then you should definitely try something else. Not necessarily. I mostly play single player games and I usually avoid FPS games, especially those that focus on competitive multiplayer. However, I happen to enjoy playing Destiny solo after trying out the beta on a whim. Why should I and others who prefer to play this game solo 'try something else' when Bungie developed the game to cater towards social and solo gamers. Granted, solo players will miss out on Crucible/Iron Banner/Strikes/ Raids and the game's content favors the social crowd, but that doesn't render Destiny completely inaccessible to the solo crowd.
First, I'll begin by saying that fun is practically subjective. What's fun to one person isn't necessarily fun to another. Second, I've been having fun with the single player campaign and Daily Heroic Story missions, playing each character class and subclass, taking part in Public Events with other players, and general gear leveling and item farming months before I was given a 3 month Gold membership. I'm an RPG fan, so leveling and farming are no big deal to me.
Strikes are decent, although it would be great if there were available in actual single player versions instead of soloing Weekly Heroic/Nightfall with enemies scaled for 3 player teams. Exotic Weapon Bounties were also decent, but some had soul crushing, Crucible requirements (especially Thorn and Invective). That said, it felt rewarding to complete all five of those bounties.Oh, and speaking of the Crucible, I haven't had much fun in that mode for three reasons: my distaste for competitive online multiplayer in FPS games, players spamming Super abilities, and players who send unsolicited offensive messages. I'll likely avoid the Iron Banner for those same reasons.

I have no desire for Raids because their armor sets are prone to being obsolete as new expansions are released and I don't want to waste money on a headset for ONE game (most of my Xbox 360 games are single player). Aside from those issues and getting random '. Wants to play Destiny with you.'

Invites without any clue on what that player wants to do, I've been having fun playing Destiny solo. I can't help that I enjoy a game that caters more towards a crowd I normally avoid. Heck, Destiny wasn't even on my radar until I played the beta. Someone please help.
