I have a new FT-911A and I’m researching expanding Tx on HF and VHF/UHF but It’s a little confusing. I had a FT-991 a few years ago, back then I watched a YouTube video that shows you the mod for HF Tx only so did the MARS mod shown (bridged JP3003). It was more disassembly then I like but it was worth it. Yaesu FT-991A the next generation in all mode, all band MF/HF/VHF/UHF transceiver with C4FM (System Fusion) Digital capability. Real-Time Spectrum Scope.

All,I have been experimenting with this here and am not getting anywhere. JP3003 is to be bridged for expanded HF (1.8-29.999.99mHz) coverage. In searching the Internet it appears that some European version radios do not have the 146-147.999mHz segment. There does not appear to be any solid conclusion yet as to getting around it, other than JP3001 and JP3002 are shown to be bridged and (as my radio has) some have what appear to be 0 ohm resistors in those places (3001/3002 respectively).JP3003 bridged + hard reset gets HF expanded.I tried to open up VHF/UHF by bridging JP3004-3008 as well, incrementally, one at a time. This made no difference.A couple questions:1. Does anyone have a solid report of what the radios with the limited 2m band spectrum show for jumper connections? Do they have JP3001 and JP3002 connected, by solder or resistors?

Or are they open? Does bridging these jumpers bring the 2m band to 144-147.999mHz or not?2. Has anyone found a way to expand VHF/UHF coverage on these radios?A couple notes:1. The service menu allows TX pretty much every where the dial will spin (including VHF+UHF bands).

It’s also possible that Windows Defender gets automatically disabled after installing anti-virus software. Remove this app is turned off by group policy. How can I sort out this issue? When your computer infected by any malware or virus, this may cause Windows Defender to be turned off.

I have tried it and it does work. There are no settings within the service menu to change, however by dialing up a frequency prior to going in to the service menu and power cycling to enter the service menu, then scrolling through to the band the entered frequency/mode was on the radio will TX. So it is physically capable of it.2.

A hunch I have is that the software in the radio is what is limiting this if question number 1 above is that JP3001 and JP3002 are bridged already, or that they are not and by bridging them the coverage on the 2m band still does not expand. In bridging all the jumpers there is no ill affect on the radio as best I can tell. It did levitate and hover above the work bench when I powered it up, but it works (just joking of course). No magic smoke so that is a good thing.
